Profile
各種のポリグルタミン病での神経細胞モデルを作成している。これらのモデルはヒトの全長の病因蛋白質の遺伝子を発現し、細胞内に変異蛋白質の凝集体を形成する。また、ALSのiPS細胞モデルも作成している。これらの神経変性疾患の病因となりうる蛋白質の病的な凝集の抑制やその主な分解系である分子シャペロン−プロテアソーム系やオートファジーのメカニズム解明やその強化による新たな治療法の可能性を探っている。さらに、神経幹細胞を用いた新規治療や新規化合物の開発を行って神経変性疾患の治療法の開発に携わっていきたい
